As you might remember, Henry Cavill suffered from a hamstring injury during the production process of The Witcher season 2. Even though it affected the process, the star managed to recover from it. Here’s what he said about the recovery process.
We’ve been waiting for The Witcher season 2 ever since the first season was released in December 2019. The production process of it wasn’t going very well as there were many problems such as the injuries and the pandemic restrictions. In the end, they wrapped up filming earlier this year. And now, the new season is coming to Netflix in December 2021.
Henry Cavill on his recovery from the injury
It’s time to take a look at the past and see what Henry Cavill has to say about his injury. Speaking to PEOPLE, the successful British actor talked about his coping mechanism against both mental and physical injuries.
“When I look back, I realize, yes, it was a hard time,” he says. “I think one of the skills I’ve picked up over the years is just forging ahead regardless of difficulty or hard work or trials and tribulations. So when the hamstring injury came, I tried to look at the silver lining. “
It seems Cavill did not take enough time to rest and recover, thus the injury. However, he saw the “silver lining” and decided that the injury was a chance to rest and come back better.
“It was like, ‘Ok. I was working insane hours and it was exhausting and I now physically can’t work because I’m on crutches.’ So I was focusing more on taking the time off and going, how can I best heal myself?”
He also mentioned how he coped with mental issues, telling that he uses a rather stoic way to do it.
“When it comes to my mental health, focus on what I can control and work on that. And that gives me something to work towards rather than something to deal with or work through or manage my life through.”
So yeah, he saw that injury as an opportunity to have a rest before a better return. It’s always best to focus on what you can do instead of forcing yourself to manage everything, after all. Good mindset, don’t you think?
What to expect from The Witcher season 2?
If you’re waiting for The Witcher season 2 and want to know more about it, check out what the showrunner had to say about the next season. Lauren Hissrich said that the crew was much more confident after the success of season 1, so they’re working on bigger things and taking bigger chances. This will probably give us a better season, and given how great the first season was, the expectations are sky-high. Here’s what the showrunner said about The Witcher‘s next season.
“The truth is, by the time the show launched in December of 2019, we were already immersed in Season 2. But in terms of the production, the renewal gave everyone permission to take a lot more chances, bigger gambles. It just gives everyone that sense of confidence they need to find new levels. Some of the things we’re working on right now are just beyond comprehension in terms of size and scope. I could not be more excited.”
