‘The Witcher’ Season 4- How Will The WGA/SAG Strikes Affect The Upcoming Season’s Production?
No matter how dark and grim Netflix’s The Witcher’s storyline is, the show has endured darker days ever since Henry Cavill stepped down as the “White Wolf” of the series. Given the unapologetic counterblast from Twitterati around the world, and the topsy-turvy reception of the prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin, things were pretty tight as The Continent’s businesses saw an ensuing downfall.
However, the elves, the mages, the witchers, and even the monsters managed to survive. But now that the American actors have also joined the ongoing WGA strike, will The Witcher Season 4 come out victorious? The honest answer would be: We do not know any concrete arguments or information for the situation at hand. We reported earlier that the script is already ready for season 4. However, they will have to wait for the strike to end for the writers to script the 5th season.
And as far as the actors’ strike is concerned, actors who are members of America’s SAG-AFTRA cannot work until the strike is over. However, those who are part of the UK actors’ union, Equity, and the majority of their work is in the UK will continue to work, per Redanian Intelligence. Now, since most of the actors in The Witcher are from the UK and hence a part of Equity, or Equity and SAG-AFTRA both, the strike shall not pose many difficulties.

While we are not sure about his contract with the Netflix fantasy series, and how the strike may govern it, however, his acting history resides with American and Australian projects mostly. This further suggests that he might either be a part of SAG or the Australian actor’s union, MEAA. Given that Mahesh Jadu and Eamon Farren are also Australian, it might not be much of a problem. And the fact that Hemsworth is already almost settled in the UK, he can certainly commence his training in the meantime.
Also, if you are wondering when the production work for season 4 will begin amidst the strike, nothing is certain as of now. They earlier provided September 4 as the date, but looking at the progress and how the strikes are unveiling, it might be dragged back to late September or even October. In the meantime, stay tuned with us to get the latest The Witcher updates.
