The Witcher season 2 will come to Netflix and show us what’s next in Geralt’s adventures with Ciri. Not this August, though. Fans are waiting for the next season of The Witcher to release on Netflix.

It’s quite natural as the first season was great and left us with many questions as to what would happen next. Geralt finally finds his destiny at the end of season 1 and it’s time for Ciri to learn to be a great warrior. We’re also curious about the state of Yennefer, who used such great power in the war.

While there are some season 2 photos that can help us learn what to expect from the new season. It’s best just to watch the whole thing. And when that can be? Even though we aren’t going to see The Witcher season 2 on Netflix this August, we have a release date on our hands.

Previously, we only knew Netflix would release The Witcher season 2 in Q4 2021. So, we relied on pure speculations to guess a narrower release date. That changed with Netflix and CD Projekt’s event WitcherCon, at which they announced the release date for season 2.

Netflix is going to release The Witcher season 2 on December 17. That’s roughly two years after the release of the first season. Well, even though two years is an unusually long interval, it’s quite natural given the circumstances. Henry Cavill’s injury and the pandemic affected the filming of The Witcher season 2, which delayed a possibly sooner release. The wait is finally coming to an end though, as Netflix will release the season by the end of this year.

We have some good news if you’re longing for some more The Witcher work sooner than this December. That’s because we’re going to see another one and it will not keep us waiting that long. The Witcher: Nightmare of The Wolf is an anime film that will tell us about Vesemir, who’s the mentor of Geralt. The new anime movie will tell of Vesemir’s younger years, so there aren’t going to be any crossovers with the current series. Nightmare of the Wolf will be on Netflix on August 23rd.

According to the showrunner of The Witcher, the new season will be huge. Lauren Hissrich believes the crew is very confident. She also states that they’re working on things that are “beyond comprehension in terms of size and scope.” It seems we’re underway for even a better season, which is thrilling, given how good the first season was. Here’s what Hissrich said about her expectations from season 2.

“The truth is, by the time the show launched in December of 2019, we were already immersed in Season 2. But in terms of the production, the renewal gave everyone permission to take a lot more chances, bigger gambles. It just gives everyone that sense of confidence they need to find new levels. Some of the things we’re working on right now are just beyond comprehension in terms of size and scope. I could not be more excited.”
