The Witcher season 2 is going to be on Netflix this year
The Witcher season 2 is officially underway for a 2021 release as confirmed by Netflix, who shared a video announcing the wrap-up of the filming process.
We have waited long enough for the second season of Henry Cavill’s fantasy series based on the games and the novels of the same name, The Witcher. The series turned out to be a huge success for Netflix back when it premiered in late 2019. As a result of that, the popular streaming platform also announced a spin-off series and a second season for The Witcher. The filming of the second season was kind of sloppy though, for the pandemic was a huge obstacle against many major productions, just like The Witcher. Not only this, but the series star Henry Cavill injured himself during the filming, thus making it hard for the crew to go on filming. It’s all over now, as The Witcher season 2 has wrapped up its filming process.
We already knew that the filming was over because The Witcher‘s makeup artist earlier confirmed that they were done. What’s more, we now also know that the second season is going to be here by the end of 2021. This was the most plausible option for Netflix, but it was not certain until now. With The Witcher season 2’s confirmed release year, now we will not have to worry about having to wait excessively for what is going to happen next in The Witcher. The streaming platform confirmed the release year and the wrapping-up of filming with the video below.
There is also some news from the spin-off of The Witcher, named The Witcher: Blood Origin. Planned to tell about the actions that created the universe’s lore, The Witcher: Blood Origin will take place nearly a thousand years before the original series. We already knew one lead actress of the series, Jodie Turner-Smith. Now, we have recently learned another lead, who’s going to be Vikings and Game of Thrones actor Laurence O’Fuarain.
