‘The Ultimatum’ From the Creators of ‘Love Is Blind’ on Netflix Is Another Social Experiment in Dating Where Contestants Swap Partners

Nick and Vanessa Lachey invite the contestant to The Ultimatum with the introductory line, “You’re here because someone in your relationship has issued an ultimatum. One partner is ready to get married, and the other isn’t sure.”  Right on the heels of the Love is Blind reunion, Netflix revealed the trailer for the next dating show, The Ultimatum. Featuring a new cast, the show’s trailer looks promising with plenty of fights, drama, romance, and heartbreak. The trailer dropped on March 4. Although definitely inspired by its predecessor, Love is Blind, this show is going to tackle the question: Can you be happy with someone else?

Nick explained, “Now when love is blind, you both know you want to get married before ever seeing each other. But in Netflix’s new dating series, The Ultimatum, six couples have come to a point in their relationships where one person is ready to be married, and the other, well, isn’t.”

Netflix show The Ultimatum Format

Coming from the creators of Love is Blind, both Nick and Vanessa Lachey will be back in the hosts’ seats. Unlike the pod dating show, the reality show will be bringing in 6 couples. They will push their relationship to the limit in hopes that they’ll tie the knot. The 6 couples will swap partners, each choosing a new partner at the end of one week. They are going to be a part of a trial marriage for three weeks. At the end of the social experiment, the couples will have to decide whether they want to walk down the aisle or split up for good.

A contestant opines, “there is someone for everyone ” while other states, “this experience is making us all start all over.” Another expresses her fear, “Being single is extremely nerve-racking.” Meanwhile, the experience helps another contestant to realize something new.

My eyes have opened up to a lot of things that I want in a relationship.”

When will the show premiere on Netflix?

The 8 part partner swapping show will arrive on April 6, 2022. Just like its predecessor, there will be a reunion special right after the finale.
