Netflix has shared some new photos from The Last Kingdom season 5, which is confirmed to be the last season of the series.
The Last Kingdom is a historical drama by Netflix based on Bernard Cornwell‘s novel series. The critically acclaimed series debuted back in 2015. It has been relatively popular since with more and more seasons piling up. Netflix announced the fifth season of The Last Kingdom in summer 2020, despite not letting us know that it will be the last. The popular streaming platform now shared some new set photos from The Last Kingdom season 5. They also confirmed that this new season is going to be the last one in the series.
How many seasons of Netflix’s The Last Kingdom are planned?
Executive producer Nigel Marchant shared his opinions about the series.
“We are really proud of The Last Kingdom, which continues to entertain audiences all over the world. We had such a tremendous response to the last season, so are thrilled to be bringing it back for the fifth and final season on Netflix. With such a loyal fanbase, we’re excited to give viewers a chance to follow Uhtred on the next stage of his epic quest, where not everyone survives.”

What is the release date of The Last Kingdom season 5?
They are currently shooting the series in Hungary. The filming is planned to end around summer 2021. Therefore, we can expect a release date of late 2021 – early 2022 if everything goes right. There is yet to be an official announcement though, so we’ll have to wait.
