In the new season, we gradually learn what really occurred between the season one finale and the first episode regarding the Chinese and American astronauts on the moon. As the abandoned astronauts are forced to share resources to come back, home mentions start to rise. This results in quarrels and the pet parrot of a fellow astronaut getting eaten.

All of these things do not leave Ali even after she returns and don’t allow her to lead her everyday life, as seen in season one. She cannot concentrate and has stopped doing laundry, which Tony calls “Normal.”

In an interview with Popculture, while being asked about the psyche, the actress said, “She was stranded on the moon. She was not able to get home. A very physical embodiment of the sort of pandemic things that we all experienced.”
