Sweet Home is a South Korean apocalyptic horror TV series based on a webtoon of the same name. It premiered on December 18, 2020. The show follows the human struggle to survive as monsters are out to wipe the world. Despite its flaws, the show distinguishes itself from other apocalypse or zombie survival shows by its setting and monsters. Studio Dragon produced the series.

What is Sweet Home based on?

The series is based on the South Korean webtoon of the same name, written by Kim Carnby and illustrated by Hwang Young-chan. It ran for a total of 140 chapters and 1 prologue on Naver webtoon. The popular webtoon, released between October 2017 and July 2020, has recorded over 2.8 million net views as of September 2021.

Sweet Home Synopsis

Cha Hyun-soo, a troubled teenager, leaves his home after an unexpected family tragedy. He moves to live in an apartment complex, Green Houses. As humans start turning into monsters, an impending threat mounts on the rest of the humans.

People of the building where Hyun-soo lives get trapped inside their apartments, realizing that monsters are lurking everywhere outside. The teenager, Hyun-soo, and other residents guard themselves inside the building, taking up the fight against savages hoping to survive for as long as they can. They put up a battle against an army of bloodthirsty monsters by holding onto their humanity.

 

Is there a season 2 of Sweet Home?

Netflix is yet to officially renew the show for another season. There has been no announcement, but since the webtoon has an extensive story going into many chapters, another season is likely.

Sweet Home Awards

Park Gyuyoung and Song Kang were nominated for Best New Actress and Actor Baek Sang TV awards respectively, at the Baek Sang Art Awards 2021. Byung Ju Lee was nominated for Baek Sang TV Technical Award for the show's visual effects.
