Sex Education: Synopsis, Cast, Trailers, Awards, Release Dates

Sex Education is a Netflix Original British drama series. It is written and created by Laurie Nunn and produced by Eleven. The directors include Ben Taylor, Kate Herron, Alice Seabright, and Sophie Goodhart. Jamie Campbell, Laurie Nunn, and Ben Taylor are also Executive Producers on the series.

Primarily a sex-comedy and teen drama, Sex Education follows the lives of students, staff, and parents of the Moordale Secondary School. The conflicts and dilemmas are centered around sexual intimacy, which is the larger theme of the show.

Sex Education Season 3 Release

On June 24, 2021, Netflix officially announced that the third season will premiere on September 17, 2021. Although previously both seasons streamed in January 2019 and 2020, respectively, the pandemic delayed the production of the recently released season.

Just like other season’s beginning, Season 3 begins with the starting of the last term. After the wild party at his home, Otis is having casual sex with Ruby (the most popular girl of school), Eric and Adam are now officially in a relationship, and Jean Milburn is pregnant with Jacob’s child. Meanwhile, new headteacher Hope tries to get Moordale on track, back on the pillar of excellence and discipline. After being sexually assaulted and overcoming its trauma, Aimee discovers feminism. Jackson gets a new crush. Though the lost voicemail of Otis to Maeve, apparently deleted by Issac, still looms.

Sex Education Synopsis

Sex Education is about teenage kids of Moordale Secondary going through all kinds of sexual dilemmas and relationship issues in their puberty. It focuses on Otis Milburn, a socially awkward student and son of a sex therapist mother, Jean.

During the course of season 1, Maeve, after discovering Otis’s intuitive talent at giving sex advice and therapy, proposes to open a sex clinic at school for earning. Otis and Maeve run the clinic as partners to capitalize on his talent and divide the cut.

Simultaneously, the series also follows the lives of other individuals from the school, dealing with their inner and outer conflicts.

In season 2, a new term begins. Otis has discovered his sexual urges and progresses gradually in sex life with his understanding girlfriend Ola, while also dealing with his now strained relationship with Maeve. He leaves Maeve for Ola, but Ola dumps him as he loves Maeve.

Meanwhile, Moordale Secondary gets stuck by a mass hysteria of the Chlamydia outbreak, highlighting the need for better sex education at the school. Jean is then appointed to rework the school’s SRE curriculum.

The series’ cast includes the likes of Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Connor Swindells, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Alistair Petrie, Mimi Keene, Aimee Lou Wood, Chaneil Kular, Simone Ashley, James Purefoy, Tanya Reynolds, Patricia Allison, Mikael Persbrandt, and Anne-Marie Duff.
