Selling Sunset season 5 is on the way

Season 5 apparently started filming in August 2021 as confirmed by a fellow cast member, Vanessa Villela. The former telenovela actress apparently tested positive for Covid-19 and had to sit out of 5 weeks of a 11-week shoot for season 5, which started in August 2021.As per the latest update from Netflix, Selling Sunset season 5 would reach us on April 22, 2022. We even received a trailer for the season, which gave a sneak peek at all the potential drama that will unfold in the upcoming season.

Plot of Selling Sunset (season-wise)

Season 1

Season 1 opens with the Oppenheim Group and the team that sells high-end properties in LA. The group dynamic, seemingly peaceful, goes for a toss when a new recruit, Chrishell Stause, joins the team. We get to know each member’s personal lives, with Mary’s younger boyfriend, Romain, Christine’s protective nature over Mary, Maya’s relationship with her boyfriend, and Heather’s European boyfriend.
The season ends with Mary engaged and planning a wedding, Maya finding out her firstborn will be a boy, and Christine and Chrishell at odds.

Season 2

Season 2 picked up a few months after the events of season 1. Mary and Chrishell, who weren’t on good terms in season 1, are now best friends. Christine returns from an extended holiday with her boyfriend, Christian Richard, with whom she later gets engaged to. Maya has given birth to her baby boy, Adrian, and Heather is now dating a reality show star, Tarek El Moussa. We also meet a new recruit, Amanza Smith, a friend of Jason and Mary.
The season continues its tradition of drama when Christine and Chrishell attempt to make up, Davina is excluded from Mary’s wedding by her boyfriend, and Amanza messes up a weekend viewing that Heather was supposed to do. We also see Christine and Mary fight and then make up constantly throughout the show: Their friendship seemed to be fraying. Nevertheless, the season closes at Mary’s wedding.

Season 3

Selling Sunset season 3 opened with Maya sharing the news of her second pregnancy with Heather, Christine’s birthday party, and Christine planning an open house event with the theme, “Botox and Burgers.” Christine ended up having that event, against her co-listing agent, Monika’s wishes. In episode 5, the news about Chrishell’s divorce with Justin Hartley broke. The divorce causes much drama when Davina and Christine play devil’s advocate for Hartley.
In the meantime, the $75 million house still has no buyers and Davina gets a rude refusal from Jason when she asks for an extension. Later, Christine tags on the property and ends up having a house tour with fiance, Christian.
Later in the season, Maya tells her plan to move to Miami and get a Florida real estate agent license. She asks Jason to consider opening an office there and he reluctantly tells her he will think about it. The season finally closes with Christine’s goth-themed wedding and Davina’s exit from Oppenheim.

Season 4

This season debuted a year after the previous and followed the cast members months after the events of the previous season. Heather is engaged to her boyfriend Tarek, Christine is pregnant with her firstborn, and Chrishell bought a house for herself. There are new members in the show: Vanessa Villela and Emma Hernan. Later, Davina attempts to return to Oppenheim after her exit the previous season.
Drama ensues when Emma takes over all of Christine’s listings and we know they have had a beef in the past over Christine’s ex. Vanessa finds herself getting in the middle of Christine’s beef with everyone in the office. The season closes with Christine and Mary’s friendship in tatters and Christine given a cold-shoulder by everyone in the company. In the last episode of season 4, Jason announces the spin-off show, Selling the OC.

Season 5

Based on the trailer, season 5 would be focusing on the romance between Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim and how that affects the dynamics in the firm. Moreover, the season will see how a new member, Chelsea Lazkani, will team up with Christine Quinn to get a desk at Oppenheim.
What we can also expect in the upcoming season is Heather Rae Young’s bridal party, from which the bride excludes Christine, and the drama that follows. We will also see Maya Fitzgerald handling her new position in the firm as a manager.

Why did Davina leave Selling Sunset?

During a People interview, Davina Potratz shared her exit from Oppenheim and decision to join a rival, Douglas Elliman. The reasons she cited for her exit were lucrative business opportunities. She shared how Douglas Elliman’s global new development division matches with her skills and experience. She revealed her exit plans with the rest of the Oppenheim team towards the end of season 3. According to a People statement and Davina’s own statement, there’s no bad blood between her and Jason.
However, in the same People interview she stated that her exit from the company doesn’t mean an exit from the show. She hopes to be part of the cast going forward. The real estate agent also expressed her wish to return to the company once her business opportunity with Douglas Elliam ended. Despite her cited reasons, many fans believe Davina left the company to get away from the drama associated with her, after her pointless fight with Chrishell in season 3.
