Love is Blind
Concept of Love is Blind
Every dating reality series try their best to be different from each other. In Love is Blind, there are fifteen men and fifteen women, all from the same metropolitan area, hoping to find love. For 10 days, the men and women date each other in purpose-built "pods" where they can talk to each other but not see each other. It all happens in a speed-dating format. Once, the couples feel comfortable, they can extend a marriage proposal. After saying "Yes", they got the chance to see each other.
After getting together, they go off on a honeymoon trip. If they survive the honeymoon, they then go back to the real world. They live together for four weeks introducing friends and family to their new, soon-to-be partner. After four weeks comes the wedding, where the couple decides if they want to continue to stay with each other or not.
Creator Chris Coelen from Kinetic Content talked to Variety where he described the reason behind this format. He said, "Across the world, everybody feels the same way: Everyone wants to be loved for who they are on the inside. It doesn’t matter where you live, what you look like, how old you are, what your background is, which class you know, or social structure you feel like you’re a part of, everyone wants to be loved for who they are."
Is Love is Blind scripted?
With such shows, fans happen to question the authenticity of the contestants. There have been some scenarios that have led the viewers to ask "Is Love is Blind scripted?".
In season one of the show, participants Kenny and Kelly broke off their engagement. This did not sit well with the viewers. At the altar, Kelly said "I don't" which was confusing for the fans. Even in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Love is Blind alum revealed he and Kelly weren't planning to get married, "We had been committed to seeing the experience through. But what’s not shown is that she and I had conversations multiple times, also with the cameras recording, we’re adamantly not getting married."
On the other hand, it felt real for some couples. The crew and some contestants have revealed that the show is indeed "real". Show producer Chris Coelen told Entertainment Weekly, "The truth is, for these people, when they walked in, they didn’t really know what they were walking into."
Which couples from Love is Blind are still together?
To date, the show has produced four successful marriages. From season 1 - Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton & Amber Pike and Matt Barnett. From Season 2 - Iyanna McNeely and Jarrette Jones, as well Danielle Ruhl and Nick Thompson.
Why was Shake banned?
In Season 2, contestant Abhishek 'Shake' Chatterjee went on to create a name for himself. Not for the right reasons but only for the wrong ones. Fans have been against Shake because of his behavior towards women and especially his partner Deepti.
In the show, Deepti tried to form a relationship with Shake but the latter went on to show his true colors within a few days. He went on to say that he did not find Deepti "attractive". Such ruthless moments led the whole cast to ban Shake. Despite his apology, things don't look good for him.
Danielle Ruhl told Insider that Chatterjee has since been completely banned from the cast's group chat. On the other hand, Deepti revealed that he made multiple women cry during filming and frequently hit on Vanessa Lachey (who hosts the show with her husband, Nick Lachey). She went on to say on the Netflix podcast, "We Have the Receipts" that he doesn't know how to talk to women and went on to call him "misogynistic".
Does Love is Blind also pay for weddings?
Love is Blind is such a fast-paced show that the couples are expected to marry within a few weeks of the meeting. Now fans have been wondering as to who pays for the wedding. In 2020, during the series premiere, a Netflix production rep spoke to Women's Health about who pays for the Love Is Blind weddings. The rep shared that while Netflix pays for "the basics," couples are also expected to pick up the tab for some aspects of their big day. Given the wedding takes place in the same location, it's safe to say that budget is provided by the show.
Amber Pike, who fell in love with and got married to Matt Barnett in Season 1, told the Los Angeles Times in February 2020 that Netflix essentially took over "the financial part of the wedding." She explained that she and Matt were given choices when it came to dresses, food, and other details, but were expected to adhere to the show's budget. The cost of any add-ons fell on the reality stars.
Francesca from Love is Blind has also appeared on Too Hot to Handle
Many of the viewers might not be aware that Francesca Farago from Too Hot To Handle made an appearance on Love is Blind. After having various relationships with different reality show celebrities, Francesca was rumored to be dating Love is Blind alum Damian Powers.
In the three-episode special called Love is Blind: After the Altar, the contestants got together to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the show's finale weddings. In this episode, Francesca made an appearance, in fact, she was invited by Damian Powers himself. The alum is currently dating his costar Giannina Gibelli. Things went upside down when his partner got to know that Francesca was invited to the show. She wasn't happy about it and told Francesca to stay away from Damian. Later, Francesca told Damian that he wasn't honest about his relationship with Giannina. Things did not go well between the three in the episode.
Safe to say, Francesca from Too Hot To Handle attended the three-part reunion episode because she was invited by Damian. This did create a lot of buzz.
Where are people from Love is Blind now?
The first season started with six couples in the pods. Viewers were introduced to Giannina, Damian, Mark, Jessica Batten, Lauren Speed, Cameron Hamilton, Amber Pike, Matthew Barnett, Kelly Chase, Kenny Barnes, Diamond Jack, and Carlton Morton.
Diamond Jack and Carlton Morton were the first pair to not make it past Mexico. The remaining pairs tried to work it out until their wedding days. The only two couples who exchanged vows were Lauren/Cameron and Amber/Barnett.
During the reunion episode in 2020, fans were surprised to know that Damian and Giannina got back together after he rejected her on their wedding day.
Talking about the update on the cast, Lauren and Cameron are still going strong and will be celebrating three years of marriage in November 2021. On the other hand, Amber and Barnett are also preparing to celebrate their three years but they still have tension with costar Jessica. After the controversy where Jessica suggested that Amber wasn't the one for Barnett, she went on to gift them an anniversary gift which was rejected by Amber.
In August 2021, Giannina Gibelli confirmed that she is single. Damian Powers also confirmed the same. Jessica Batten is currently engaged to her boyfriend, Dr. Benjamin McGrath who she met on Instagram and introduced to her fans in July 2020. She went on to say that she was expecting Mark on the reunion episode despite their split and was upset that he did not show up. Mark Cuevas has been living his life after the season. He went on to announce that he is dating Aubrey Rainey. This happened hours after Jessica introduced her beau. Mark and Aubrey are now happy parents to a son who was born in April 2021.

Kelly Chase hasn't opened up about her relationship (if any). Kenny Barners is engaged to Alexandra Garrison since August 2020. He even brought her to the anniversary party. Diamond Jack isn't dating anyone right now. Carlton Morton revealed in the After the Altar episodes that he is not dating Diamond and is not on good terms with her.
Will we have season 3 of Love is Blind?
As season 2 is around the corner, fans are wondering if Love is Blind will get season 3 or not. Luckily, the show creator Chris Coelen told the U.K.'s Metro in February 2022, "Yes, we’ve already filmed season three. Every season is totally unique. Season three is a very different being than either season one or season two."
