Stranger Things, as a show, has come to be known for weaving nostalgia, supernatural intrigue, top-notch music, and mystery in every episode. With its digital release on Netflix, Stranger Things paved the way for originals and showed through example that a good script, even if released digitally, can prove to be a blockbuster. And it plans to once again achieve the same feat by bringing Hawkins and Upside Down on stage with the play, Stranger Things: The First Shadow.

The thought of witnessing its enthralling universe come to life before our very eyes is nothing short of surreal. However, if there is one thing that has become clear throughout the four seasons of the show, is that the Hawkins kids have never learned to back down or go home, they only go big. And as Stranger Things on Stage social media handle dropped a photo of the Stranger Things: The First Shadow cast and announced them as the “Class of Hawkins 1959,” fans could not help but feel a sense of déjà vu.

As Stranger Things Season 5 faced one setback after another, the prequel play of Stranger Things not only served as a great comfort but also opened a new doorway to the mystery of Hawkins. That the play was going to be a prequel to the show really intrigued fans who believe that the connection between Hawkins and Upside Down has been a long time in making.

Not only will the play provide context to the origin stories of the characters but may also contain hints for Stranger Things Season 5. And all things combined fans cannot wait to see what Stranger Things: The First Shadow has in store.

The Class of Hawkins 1959 from Stranger Things: The First Shadow has fans hooked

While the similarities between Stranger Things on Netflix and Stranger Things on stage are yet to be revealed, the stage and the screenplay are connected by their unparalleled intrigue. The creators have been hyping up the play for a while now. Fans went crashing down the hallways as they learned that the script would be a prequel to the show a few months ago. The reason behind this jugular grip that the show has on the audience more than the script is because of Joyce and Hopper.

Joyce Byers, played by Winona Ryder, and Jim Hopper, played by David Harbour, in a show that has a plethora of young couples have managed to remain undefeated with their old school love. While most seasons except the fourth focused greatly on their friendship, the play will dwell on their romance arc and fans cannot wait for that.

The only qualm, however, that fans have with Stranger Things: The First Shadow is that a majority of them would not be able to watch it. Stranger Things: The First Shadow will take the stage in the Phoenix Theater on November 17 and as of now, Netflix has made no announcements pertaining to its digital release.
