Snowpiercer season 2 release date has been announced. What will happen in the series in the highly anticipated Snowpiercer second season? Here is what we know about the new season.

The series adaptation of Bong Joon-ho’s 2013 sci-fi movie Snowpiercer landed in May. The series which was also broadcast on TNT in the United States and on Netflix in the rest of the world completed its first season of 10 episodes on July 12. Although the series was well below the movie it was adapted for in many subjects, it reached a wide audience on Netflix.

Snowpiercer had received season 2 approval before it even went live. So, its creative team immediately started working on shaping season 2. In addition, the broadcast date of the series has been delayed many times because of COVID-19 and other reasons. As a result, a significant part of the second season was filmed before the end of the 1st season, which paved the way for the series to return to the screens without much break despite the pandemic conditions.

There are very few people who manage to survive seven years after the earth was covered in ice. Their survival after the great catastrophe is due to their living on the Snowpiercer, a circular and huge train that revolves around the globe. Snowpiercer, where people live with different opportunities, is home to unfair situations and difficult living conditions. Starring Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs, the series also features names such as Mickey Sumner, Susan Park, Benjamin Haigh, Sasha Frolova, Katie McGuinness, Alison Wright, and Annalize Basso.

Snowpiercer, whose first season was completed in July, will return to the screens with its second season in January. The New York Comic-Con took place online due to the pandemic and during the event, it was announced that the second season of Snowpiercer will begin on January 25. However, since it has TNT broadcasting rights, the second season of the series will arrive on Netflix the next day, on January 26th.

Season 1 ended at a very tense and exciting point, and now the story continues to evolve. The season 2 trailer, released immediately after the first season finale, revealed that an important surprise awaits the audience in the new season, and Sean Bean, who was included in the cast in season 2, will star as Mr. Wilfred, the engineer at the center of the story and the train.
