The top-rated British period crime drama, Peaky Blinders, centers on Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy). Shelby is the leader of the ‘Peaky Blinders’, one of the most powerful underground gangs based out of Birmingham in post-great-war Britain.

The show got a huge fan following for its unique vibe, gripping cinematography, fashionable outfits, and stupendous cast. Furthermore, the show’s increasing popularity has also raised expectations from the final season.

Steven Knight, the creator of the series, has already said that season 6 will be the last of Peaky Blinders. However, he added that the story would continue in “another form” through different spin-offs. Although he wanted to end the show with a long touted Peaky Blinders film, Netflix canceled the upcoming seasons earlier this year.

About two years ago, Season 5 ended with the spine-chilling cliff-hanger where a traumatized Tommy had his gun pointing at his head.

In the show’s final season, Shelby is likely to face a new fascist enemy – this time a female. She could probably be Mosley’s second-wife Diana Guinness.

A few months ago, in a chat with Digital Spy, the series director said, “There’s a great female character who is new, who is pretty dark. I haven’t seen a character like her in Peaky before. I won’t say who she is, but she certainly gives Tommy a run for his money. She challenges him in a different way basically. She’s certainly not a protagonist and I don’t know if she’s an antagonist. It’s similar to [Oswald] Mosley… she has a similar ideology, and that’s challenging for any character, like I’ve said before… he or she, they don’t have guns or a gang, but they have an ideology that’s like a virus and it’s more dangerous than anything. She’s a great character and we’re really close to casting her, as well.”
