The 2024 Oscars ended on a celebrated high with Oppenheimer emerging as the lead victor in a jam-packed race that also had nine others competing for the Best Picture spot. However, the impact of its closest neighbor in terms of release date, Barbie also spelled itself all over the place. Starting from its eight nominations across various categories to Ken actor Ryan Gosling finding his place as the biggest pull of the night with his ‘I’m Just Ken’ performance.

The actor, however, had to engage in meticulous rehearsals and dedication for the same, and beyond the Barbie cast there lay a few shining pillars of support who enhanced his performance without receiving any credit, until yet.

From Greta Gerwig to Margot Robbie, the entirety of the Barbie cast cheered along for Ryan Gosling as he submerged the entire audience at the 2024 Oscars in pink fervor with his ‘I’m Just Ken’ musical. Labeled by social media as well as the mainstream as one of the best live performances ever, Gosling recently revealed to People that he received first-hand advice and feedback from his wife Eva Mendes, and his two daughters, Esmeralda Amada and Amada Lee.

“They gave me some tips and some notes, all great notes,” Gosling stated while recalling their presence in the front row during the dress rehearsals. Thereafter, he also noted that “it was my girl’s interest in Barbie and disinterest in Ken” that had him playing the part in the first place, so them being at the Oscars came as a full-circle moment. Additionally, on his part, the 43-year-old actor also kissed his necklace engraved with Mendes’ ‘E’ at the end of the performance as a sign of love.

Ryan Gosling performed ‘I’m Just Ken’ along with Simu Liu, Scott Evans, Ncuti Gatwa, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and 65 backup dancers dressed as ‘Kens’ in a dazzling spectacle of pink. Adorned with rhinestones and moving among the audience, the oozing aura from the performance had his La La Land co-actress, Emma Stone, damaging her dress in the process.

Dressed in a custom Louis Vuitton mint green peplum gown, its fitting did not allow for as much movement. However, as Stone admitted during her Best Actress acceptance speech for Poor Things, the energy had her “going for it” and busting one of her gown’s zippers in the process. The toll taken had the actress then move backstage where her team sewed her back in. All the more evidence that Ryan Gosling received some pretty insightful notes from his wife and children.
