‘Rebel Moon’ Defeated ‘Barbie’? Zack Snyder Sends the Internet Into a Meltdown Mere Days Away From Oscar 2024
Last year, the world was taken over by the Barbenheimer debate when Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie dropped on the same day. While the Mattel film did not do as well in the awards circuit, it did manage to rake in quite a number at the box office. With the Oscar nominations putting an end to the once intense debate, another rather surprising claim has popped up.
Just days ahead of the 96th annual Academy Awards, Zack Snyder claimed that his Netflix film, Rebel Moon, would have brought in more if he had planned a theatrical release.

In a recent interview on The Joe Rogan Experience, Zack Snyder shocked the world when he stated that he thought “more people” had seen his film, Rebel Moon, instead of Margot Robbie’s Barbie. The director explained that at the moment, his movie was almost at 90 million views. He also took into account that more than one person could be using a single account, which would instantly double his views.
While Robbie’s film had brought in $1.4 billion, Snyder claimed that Rebel Moon could have brought in $1.6 billion if it had gone with a theatrical release. Although the math could add up, with the movie having been released on Netflix, fans might never know what could have happened. The 58-year-old might be disappointed about the fact that his film has not gotten the recognition it deserves. However, the rest of the world seems to be waiting for the second part.
Snyder might not be ready to stop promoting the first part of his Rebel Moon films. However, with the first film having been released in December, it is no wonder that fans are counting down the days till part two.

Last year, Zack Snyder promised the world a two-part movie called Rebel Moon. While the hype immediately took over the world, the director had chosen to space out his projects. Although the first part was released back in December, the second part, The Scargiver, will make its way to Netflix on April 19th, 2024. With a little over a month to go for the action film to drop, the 58-year-old has been keeping his cards close to his chest.
Just like in the first part, fans will see Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Skrein, and more take center stage yet again. However, after the second Rebel Moon film has been released, the world might just be lucky enough to get the Snyder cut of the two movies.
