Christopher Nolan received his first Oscar nomination for the 2000 film Memento, winning a Best Screenplay nod in 2002. Thereafter, he received two nods for Best Picture and Best Screenplay in 2011 for Inception, followed by two more in 2018 for Best Director and Best Picture for Dunkirk. However, his current haul of thirteen nominations for Oppenheimer stands as his biggest Academy Awards listing yet, outpacing any other film’s tally for this year.
In strong unison of support, fans predicted the number of wins coming the filmmaker’s way and their plausible reactions if he loses.

In 2023, the Cillian Murphy starrer earned about $960 million at the box office. However, Christopher Nolan’s current biggest strength lies in his Best Director Golden Globes Award for Oppenheimer. Additionally, the movie going on a winning streak at major award ceremonies such as the aforementioned one, the Critics Choice, as well as the Screen Guild Awards, may well have him breaking through the glass ceiling in 2024.
