Amidst Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman Rumors, Academy Awards to Bring Major Change to Oscar Hosting: Reports
The falling of the curtain on the night of the Academy Awards indicates less of a conclusion to the big night but more of a cue to frantically hunt down the host for the next big night. While the Oscars still crown cinematic brilliance at their core, their two-hour extravaganza now strains against the fraying threads of modern attention, demanding more of a juggernaut pulling out metaphorical circus stunts in order to keep the audiences glued than a witty host with a twelve-minute-long monologue.
While Jimmy Kimmel has played the Oscar host's role like an ill-fitting shoe, sometimes a tad bit too tight while other times loose, as he refuses to come back this year, instead of tying the bell on the cat, the Academy Awards are looking for a rebrand altogether.

While Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman may have pulled in thousands for a two-hour spectacle, they too needed claws and a few gazillions Deadpool variants to make the ship sail. Therefore, in hopes of setting things right from the start, the Academy Awards in 2025 is plotting a way for its next host to not be hanged by the Internet on a cross, and the answer as they believe, according to Matthew Belloni's sources as reported by Puck, lies in getting more celebrities to quip in and share the burden of 'hosting' rather than have one person do it.
Given how Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman were not the only names that appeared in the sea of celebrities that were being considered to be the apple of the Academy Awards 2025's eye, the stage may once again start looking appealing. To provide a lighter lift for the host, whoever they may be, the Academy will be trusting its most popular attendees from the year, and the evergreen charm of Will Ferrell to make its big night a success.
The rebrand, however, is not restricted to just the hosting style. With several suggestions coming in, the Academy Awards might have to further expand their spectrum and include new categories.

Despite the entourage of award show ceremonies that make the distinction between genres when awarding limited series and movies, there is no denying that an Oscar recognition takes things to the next level. As Ryan Reynolds urges the Oscars to incorporate a category recognizing the stunts and the sheer workforce that goes behind perfecting each one, the demand for other categories is also gaining momentum.
The Academy Awards, although recognize cinematic brilliance when handing over the trophy for Best Picture, they almost always cause a quarrel between the genres. And now that the Oscars are finally looking to rebrand and cater to the audience's gaze, this provides the perfect opportunity for the introduction of new categories, especially one as vital as Best Picture in respective genres and also stunt work.
