Donatella Versace further admitted to GQ in an email how Murphy looked “exquisite in this Atelier Versace tuxedo” while sharing her love for “collaborating with him on his clothes”. According to Forde’s admission to Vogue, both Murphy and she looked at Versace’s archives to fit in a 90s Versace look. For Forde, the “twist on a classic tuxedo with drop shoulders” brought in the “Old Hollywood vibe”. To top it off, Murphy wore custom Chelsea boots, an Omega timepiece, and an 18-karat yellow-gold custom brooch by Sauvereign. 

The details of his styling for the Oscar-ready transformation were as intricate as his intentions to honor Oppenheimer, the foundation of his victory, and his homeland, the very place that made him the man he is.

Not just by pinning victories on his sleeve, but even the custom brooch on Murphy’s lapel also screamed Oppenheimer at the Oscars. For the cinema that catalyzed 2024’s winning roads for the Irish delight, how could an Oscar moment fail to admit their worth? Hence, the actor wore Sauvereign’s starburst-designed 18-karat custom brooch to honor Oppenheimer.

As per Forde, this “bespoke commission” for Murphy has eight concentric trapeziums, the shape found in the inner components of the atomic bomb. Murphy also seized the opportunity to pay tribute at the Oscars to pay tribute to his Irish roots beyond the party tricks. His patent leather boots have been dubbed “the Dublin boot” by the brand in a gesture of tribute to his motherland. The boots, which were especially for the occasion, feature Medusa hardware in gold, a signature of the Milanese label. Thus, Murphy not only etched his name in Oscar’s history but carried its values on his shoulders.
