Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, or Devi Vishwakarma, as we popularly know her, moves with a graceful charisma. While her character is a rebellious and nerdy teenager, who can never stay out of trouble. Maitreyi carries herself with confidence and a firm form of language. Her character deals with the loss of her father and coming of age hijinks humorously.
Apparently, the series will conclude in 4 seasons. Sure, high school does not last forever, but it makes us kind of sad to digest this fact. We have always had a guilty pleasure to watch Devi fight through her fights. With all the messiness, LOLs, and steamy romance…it will be hard to say goodbye to her after her senior year. Well, it’s not just us; Maitreyi herself is a little nostalgic and wants to hold on to her on-screen avatar a little more.

Each one of us has a turning point in our life. The one that changes us completely. Never Have I Ever is one such occurrence in Maitreyi’s life. She shares with Deadline how she was just a 17-year high school-going girl before the show. She celebrates her achievement and expresses her gratitude toward the show.
“I was just a regular 17-year-old high school girl, living her best life and Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Now I can say I was a part of something that’s groundbreaking, and history-changing,” she tells Deadline. “It’s been such an honor. There are no words to express how grateful I am for everything that’s happened thanks to Never Have I Ever.”
The interview took place in Netflix’s celebration of South Asian culture with Bridgerton star Simon Ashley in Los Angeles. Looking around, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan was extremely proud of her journey and boastfully said, growing up, she never saw herself on screen.
“Young girls like me didn’t see themselves represented,” she shared. “Even today, there’s still not a lot of representation but I know it’s only the beginning. I hope that soon, they’ll have many characters to choose from that they can fully relate to. I think we’re finally getting there. Everyone deserves that representation.”
