Netflix shared the official trailer for Katla, which is an Icelandic mystery-drama series coming in June 2021.

Netflix’s new original series Katla excited the fans once again, this time with its official trailer. The mysterious drama series is about the eruption of a supernatural volcano called Katla, which brings about some unexpected consequences. The peace of the small town Vik is disturbed by the eruption, as it makes some prehistoric items emerge into the surface of Earth.

Katla is an Icelandic series, which is a huge plus for some fans. Iceland is not necessarily a big country. However, it has many critically acclaimed productions. Moreover, when we look at the cast and crew of the series, we understand that they can pull off a great job given their ample experience.

As we mentioned earlier, Katla is about the story of Vik, a small town in Iceland. A volcano named Katla erupts, and this disturbs the tranquility of Vik. Not only that, but the eruption also brings up many items from the pre-historic times. Unfortunately, the items are not natural, and they cause some catastrophic events. The residents of Vik try to stay alive and evacuate the town while trying to figure out what the hell is happening.

“One year after the violent eruption of the subglacial volcano Katla, the peace and tranquility in the small town of Vik have been dramatically disturbed. As people evacuate the area, mysterious elements, that have been deeply frozen into the glacier from prehistoric times, start to emerge from the melting ice and causes consequences no one could ever foresee.”

Netflix Original mystery series Katla has some experienced creators, writers, directors, and actors. The cast and the crew includes people who are familiar to each other.

Sigurjón Kjartansson is one of the creators of Katla. He is the writer of the award-winning movie Trapped, and many other Icelandic movies and series. Baltasar Kormákur, on the other hand, is another creator. He has experience working on Trapped, Two Guns, and many more series and movies. He has plenty of experience working with Kjartansson, which hopefully built a good chemistry between those two to create Katla.

Here are some of the actors playing in the series. Many of them are familiar with the crew and each other, having worked on many common projects. Ingvar Sigurdsson, for example, portrays Anatoli Boukraev in Everest, which is another work from the creator Baltasar Kormakur.
