Netflix’s ‘Beef’ Continues Its Awards Sweep at SAG Awards 2024
Netflix’s Beef is at it again. After sweeping awards at Golden Globes and Primetime Emmy, the Lee Sung Jin creation bagged The Actor for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series and Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series categories at SAG Awards 2024.

Notably, this is not the first time Beef’s leads Ali Wong and Steven Yeun twinned at major awards by bagging Outstanding Actor awards. The duo won similar categories at Critics’ Choice Television Awards aside from the Emmys and Globes.
While the Netflix show clinched the actor awards, Beef did lose to The Last of Us, which also bagged the Best Leading Male for Drama Series award, in the Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series category. But at the end of the night, the show won two out of its three nominations, and that is as big a win as any.
However, Beef winning the two awards wasn’t the only highlight of the night as Netflix created history with SAG 2024.

In May 2023, Netflix first announced through a Tudum article that it was going to stream the SAG Awards 2024 live. It was the result of a multi-year partnership struck between the platform and awards function. Notably, this came after the 2023 SAG streamed live on Netflix’s YouTube channel.
The turn of events, while a blow to broadcast TV, is a win for Netflix and its users. The platform became a necessary part of creating history: awards shows being streamed live for the first time. However, users benefit the most since anyone from across the world can catch up on the show live and afterward. But given the frequent swearing and following exclamation of “we’re on Netflix” it would seem it’s the actors who are making the most of this new setup.
