Another action-packed thriller, Fistful of Vengeance just adds up on the Netflix list, and fans of Wu Assassins have a lot to say about the film. Fistful of Vengeance is the sequel film of Wu Assassins, a television series that explores superpowers and Asian myths. Netflix canceled Wu Assassins, just after season 1.

The new movie is American supernatural by Roel Reiné and co-written by Cameron Litvack, Jessica Chou, and Yalun Tu. In this sequel, the team from Wu Assassins reunites to take revenge for the death of their own. But little did they know, their new enemy is an ancient threat with unworldly powers.

Netflix has officially confirmed the film on February 26th, 2021, and the entire filming has taken place in Thailand. The film has received average reviews from critics. Let’s find out what the critics have to say about the film.

What Fistful of Vengeance is about?

The movie was released on February 17th, 2022. 

Wu Assassins never reached the benchmark of The Witcher or Stranger Things, so Netflix canceled the show. But the show must have done something right, to have a sequel film. The show develops around the team Kai Jin, Lu Xin Lee, and Tommy reunited in Bangkok, Thailand, to avenge the death of Tommy’s sister, Jenny. In their way, they found something bigger which threatens the entire world.

In conversation Movie Web, Lawrence Kao, who plays Tommy Wah, explains, “[It] is a sort of like a standalone movie. You don’t necessarily have to watch the first season to understand what’s going on.”

Critics review and fan reactions

Fistful of Vengeance is quite intense with a dense backstory and received mixed reviews from critics. Rotten Tomatoes still didn’t rate the film, but we can expect the scoreboard will be higher, as more people stream the film.

The Weekend of Warrior reviews Fistful of Vengeance as, “There are many great fight sequences, but that’s about it because it is pretty much unwatchable otherwise.”

AIPT reviews the film as, “An action-packed and exciting movie with great fight choreography. The exposition-laden adventure segments can be a slog to get through, but then the next brawl comes up and will suck audiences right back in.”

Geeks of Color reviews the film as, “Ultimately, the problems in Fistful of Vengeance are not bad enough to make you tap out. There’s a group fight scene with cleaver knives at the 40-minute mark that makes this worth a watch for any action fanatic.”
