The series has a total of 6 episodes created by Ava DuVernay. The story develops around a teenage star athlete. Colin Kaepernick faces some experiences that lead him to become an activist.
Colin Kaepernick began his protest for racial injustice during U.S. national anthem in San Francisco in 2016, which create the biggest sports controversies from just a small act. Colin Kaepernick, in 2016, was a QB for the San Francisco 49ers, protested during the national anthem by kneeling because of police brutality and racial inequality, and systematic oppression. He kneeled the whole season during the national anthem. The protest received a lot of mixed reactions from the general public. He left the 49ers, became a free player, and remained unsigned for a long time. He filed against NFL and has played none NFL. Kaepernick’s protest became back on track when George Floyd died from police brutality and racism. He remained a free player and remain unsigned. Kaepernick claims the show is an expansion of his activism. He added, “Too often we see race and Black stories portrayed through a white lens… We seek to give a new perspective on the different realities that Black people face. We explore the racial conflicts I faced as an adopted black man in a white community during my high school years. It’s an honor to bring these stories to life in collaboration with Ava for the world to see.”

Kaepernick was born in 1978. After that, a white couple adopted him. He started playing football at an age of 8. With football, he also has played basketball and baseball. At a very young age, he got a lot of fame and success. Kaepernick has a lot of tattoos, and all of them are related to faith. He claims, “I think God guides me through every day and helps me take the right steps and has helped me to get to where I’m at.”
