Netflix has shared the official trailer with the release date for its new crime documentary The Sons of Sam: A Descent Into Darkness.
Not limiting itself to sci-fi or dramas, Netflix is adding more and more documentaries to its library. This time, it’s a mini-series about the notorious serial killer David Berkowitz, who describes himself as Son of Sam. He admitted killing six people and wounding ten people. Imprisoned at Shawangunk Correctional Facility right now, the Son of Sam is serving his six life sentences as a result of his actions.
This story has been told by many people and been in pop-culture references multiple times as well. There’s also a whole thriller movie about Son of Sam that Spike Lee directs, which is titled Summer of Sam. That 1999 movie starred John Leguizamo.

Son of Sam is also referred to multiple times in the popular American sitcom Seinfeld. For example, in an episode of the series, Kramer says the name “Son of Dad” as a nickname for a new serial killer, which is a reference to notorious Berkowitz’s nickname.
Netflix is planning to tell the story of David Berkowitz, and the journalist Maury Terry who tried to investigate him. Terry also wrote a book assembling every article of hers, named The Ultimate Evil. Without further ado, here’s the official trailer Netflix has shared for its new crime documentary, and more details follow.
