The Continent is the vast landmass in which The Witcher series takes set, and it conjures up thoughts of wandering monsters, mystical beings, and danger lurking around every corner for fans. And while the residents have had centuries to adjust, it wasn’t always this way. The word Conjunction of the Spheres appears frequently in The Witcher, games, novels, and notably in the television series. So, what exactly was it? How does it affect characters like Ciri in The Witcher?
What’s the Conjunction of the Spheres?
The Conjunction of the Spheres, which occurred 1,500 years before Geralt’s narrative began, was an astronomical event that transformed the universe and established The Content as the residents know it today. Prior to the Conjunction, The Continent’s planet was inhabited by gnomes, dwarves, and elves. However, you discover from Yarpen Zigrin that elves aren’t native to The Continent, having arrived by water before the Conjunction.
Several formerly independent worlds literally converged in space at the Conjunction of the Spheres. The collision and subsequent chaos permitted creatures from one world’s reality to slip into another where they had no natural occurrence, frequently leading to conflicts for domination between the new and existing species there.
