It is indeed a fact that art helps people communicate things. It is profoundly a means of expression, something that equips you with the necessary tools and platform to say what you feel and believe in. Thus, the most remarkable instances of freedom of expression always lead to the most awe-inspiring art. Something that was beautifully achieved by Elliot Page on Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy Season 3.
Page himself went through a big change. The Oscar-nominated actor came out as trans back in 2020; he revealed that his life has changed for the better. However, it is not often that you see these things translate to the screen, which is not what happened in this case. The Netflix series whole-heartedly incorporated this transition onto the show. Elliot Page talked about it all on a recent appearance on “Late Show with Seth Meyers”.
Elliot Page says they’re “excited” for people to see the transition on the show
Earlier this year, the fans of The Umbrella Academy were hit with a surprise when Elliot Page announced that their character Vanya Hargreeves, will return as Viktor. Marking the change they went through themselves in real life, it was indeed wholesome to see the show incorporating it as well. In an appearance on “Late Show with Seth Meyers”, Page talked about the impact it had on his life and work.
“I think it’s made me better in so many facets; as a person, as a friend, in relationships,” Page said. They also revealed Steve Blackman, the showrunner for the Netflix Original was really excited about incorporating it into the show. The crew even got a trans author and journalist on board, to help pen the journey of Page’s character.
Thomas Page McBee really helped with tracing the journey of Viktor. “Thomas came on board and helped out, and I feel proud of it and excited for people to see it,” said Elliot Page.
