Rebel Moon was one of the most anticipated projects of modern times. But somewhere between the promise and the Netflix debut, much of it fell flat, despite the spectacle and jaw-dropping visual effects. Rebel Moon did not even meet the standards the director, Zack Snyder, had set for himself in his work. Now, the filmmaker is ready for his second act with Netflix, hoping this time it will bring a much-needed redemption.

Zack Snyder is bringing a new feature project to the table. This would be an untitled action movie centered on the Los Angeles Police Department. Snyder will not only direct the film but also co-write it with Kurt Johnstad, his frequent collaborator, with whom he has worked on 300, the Frank Miller comic adaptation that has a prequel incoming and the Rebel Moon movies, among others. The project is about to be Snyder’s “first truly grounded feature,” as has been reported by The Hollywood Reporter, as it will be free of any supernatural elements.

Snyder wanted to make an action movie twenty years ago with Sony. However, he stepped away from that project because he did not want it to be constrained by the PG-13 rating the studio was aiming for. With no such limits at Netflix, Snyder will finally get the chance to direct a more visceral, hard-hitting action film. But fans are still on the fence considering Snyder’s last collaboration with the streaming giant.

It is no secret that Zack Snyder’s films have always been polarizing. While some people love them, others, not so much. He definitely has a strong fanbase, but most of his movies have gotten mixed or negative reviews. The same seems to be happening with his upcoming LAPD movie for Netflix. After Rebel Moon, a lot of fans are still unsure what to expect from his next project and are feeling a bit anxious about it.

Some fans, however, who still have faith in Snyder are holding out hope for this upcoming collaboration.

In recent years, Netflix has given Zack Snyder the freedom to explore new stories and create fresh worlds for its subscribers to dive into. However, after Rebel Moon, only time will tell if this upcoming movie about the Los Angeles Police Department can live up to the hype.
