Over the years, the craze of Stranger Things has taken over the world. While the series was filled with plot twists and jump scares that left fans cowering, it ended up becoming a fan favorite. With characters who are hard not to adore, it is no surprise that the series went on to be one of Netflix’s most popular shows. However, after just four seasons, the creators announced that they would be wrapping up the story with a final season.

Although fans have been waiting for a while now, they are just getting started. Shortly after a filming update, fans had another update coming.

Stranger Things receives an episode update

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), a Stranger Things news page updated fans with information about the 5th season. The post claimed that the series would be wrapping up the show with eight episodes. While that might not seem to be enough for fans, the creators have consistently alternated between 8 or 9 episodes every season. Apart from that, it also hinted that the finale could be split into 2 parts.

The post went on to claim that the cast members like Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, Noah Schnapp, and the rest had only read the first 6 episodes. It also stated that they would be reading the final two later. While that means the table reads for the entire season have not been complete, the post also promised fans that the filming would be over in just a year.

The latest claims of filming wrapping up in a year left fans a little confused, as the shooting had only recently received a surprising update.

When will Stranger Things season 5 filming begin?

Earlier this year, the world of Hollywood faced a strike like no other. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes took over the industry and shut down many shows and films that were already filming. While the halt damaged a lot of deadlines for particular projects, the battle finally came to an end. With the world finally getting back to normal, the Stranger Things creators revealed that they would pick up filming in January 2024.

While that gives them ample time to enjoy the holiday season, the wait has already made some fans feel antsy. Ross Duffer’s tease on social media did not help. With shooting for the series only kicking off in 2024, fans can expect the series to land on Netflix in late 2025 or maybe even in 2026.
