The streaming giant’s decision to adapt One Piece from a shonen manga into a live-action was one of its most daunting decisions ever. Many have notoriously blamed Netflix for veering off the source material. However, in order to get things right, Netflix ran an extra mile. In order to maintain the accuracy of the show, the original creator, Eiichiro Oda himself, was brought on board as an executive producer.
Thus, Oda ensured that the entire show followed his vision and took on the original matter with grace. Additionally, the show executed the take and focus on each character’s abilities and backdrop with finesse. Finally, the show’s decision to include plot lines from the original source while making it fit for a live-action attracted both new and old fans of the manga. All in all, One Piece serves as a fun and refreshing take on a new world and ushers in a new sense of confidence in Netflix.
