NBC’s crime comedy series, Good Girls, starring Christina Hendricks, Retta, and Mae Whitman is soon to drop on Netflix in March. The series first premiered on the channel in February 2018. Netflix US subscribers would get to stream the series on their platform one year after it aired on NBC. Since season 4 aired on March 7, 2021, it hit the platform on March 7th 2022. But for fans of Good Girls, the pertinent question here is whether there will be a season 5.
When will Good Girls season 5 arrive?
The show acquired a decent amount of viewership thanks to Netflix. Although it wasn’t a Netflix Original, the show was marketed as one outside of America. But despite all these factors, NBC canceled the show. So season 5 is the final season with no new season on the horizon.
Why did NBC cancel the show?
Surprisingly, NBC had plans to bring back the show for an eight-episode finale, but creative differences, money, and scheduling conflicts led it to be axed. As per reports, Christina Hendricks and Manny Montana were not on good terms with one another. Also, the channel’s negotiation with Montana fell through as the actor wanted a bigger paycheck.
Good Girls wasn’t a crowd puller on the channel. NBC was suffering huge losses and in order to cut down the losses, it had to reduce the wages of the actors. While the three leading actors accepted the smaller paychecks, Montana was not happy with the pay cut.
Why didn’t Netflix pick up the show?
Historically, Netflix has often swooped in to save the day to the delight of the fans for canceled shows like Lucifer, and Designated Driver. However, this time the streamer’s hands were tied because of the differences between the actors. The creators had planned to move the show entirely to the digital streaming platform. Even Universal TV came up with a budget but none could come to an agreement and make the deal happen.
Even if there’s no season 5 to look forward to, season 4 will be enough to satisfy the fans. The previous season has 16 episodes in total with each episode running for 44 minutes.
The fourth season is streaming on Netflix now.
