Will the Ongoing Writers’ Strike Put a Halt on ‘The Witcher’s’ Future?
The Writers’ Guild of America has already taken many of the live television shows into their strike’s ever-growing flame. And it seems like if the production houses and the association do not come to an agreement, it will adversely affect the streaming services as well. Among many other shows, Netflix’s already fan-abandoned show, The Witcher may also have to live through the ill effects of this movement.
For those who are unaware, the Writers’ Guild of America, or WGA is a joint association in effect since the first day of May and is fighting for better conditions for scriptwriters and an assured security against the looming threat in the name of Artificial Intelligence. Now, keeping that in mind, if we talk about the 4th and 5th seasons of the Netflix fantasy show, things may get a little perturbing if no solutions arrive shortly. But how do we know that?

Well, one of the members of WGA, and a scriptwriter for Bridgerton, Clare Higgins apparently took to Twitter to share his joy in having joined by The Witcher crew. “LOVED reuniting with some of my Witcher team to picket yesterday. It’s a strong start to week two,” the post read. Furthermore, if this continued the 4th and 5th seasons may get affected.

How can the writers’ strike affect The Witcher? Is it inevitable?
According to the Redaninan Intelligence reports, they had already begun writing the fourth season and were almost done with it. However, the writers were supposed to conclude the fourth as well as begin the fifth season. So, if both parties do not arrive at a feasible solution, it may cause an immense delay in that. Netflix’s vision of debuting two seasons back to back may also fall into pieces.
It seems like the streaming giant has the Rats to fill in the potential gap. The scripting for this prequel has already been done a few months ago, and the show is in its pre-production period. Furthermore, the thief gang was reportedly in South Africa last for the shoots of the awaited prequel. But per the latest reports, the showrunner, who is also an active member of WGA, will not indulge in any sort of writing-related work. So whether the crew continues their journey in Cape Town or halts right there, only the future shall have that answer.
