The novel, previously made into a chilling 1983 film, follows a mother and her son as they become stranded in a broken-down car, stalked by a massive St. Bernard driven mad by rabies. With no escape and rising temperatures, they are forced into a desperate struggle to stay alive.

Stephen King's suspenseful thrillers have had numerous successful adaptations, including the 1983 movie Cujo.
