Hand-holding Harry and Meghan under the scanner?
There is no truth to Harry and Meghan upsetting the hierarchy with their conduct during the procession. The couple is free to do things as per their liking, as they no longer hold the title of being His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness. The two stepped down from their royal duty two years back and moved out of the family to live an independent life in California. Thus, Harry and Meghan are no more bound by the royal rules.
Notably, during the entire procession process, the couple maintained distance as they stood at their designated place to pay respect to Queen Elizabeth II. They also patiently waited for bowing and curtsying to the coffin and the crown. However, it was during their exit from Westminster Hall that they provided emotional support to each other by holding hands.

Meanwhile, the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex were not the only members of the royal family providing support to each other at Westminster Hall. Prince Harry’s cousin Zara Tindall also held her husband Mike Tindall’s hand during the ceremony.
While Harry and Meghan are not expected to follow the rules and regulations, Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate Middleton will have to go by the procedure.
