Will Narcos Mexico Continue? Is There a Possibility of a Spinoff or Season 4?
The capture of Deigo Luna’s Gallardo is what most fans expected to be the ending of Narcos: Mexico. However, that happened at the end of a very thrilling season two and season three of the series is out now. But now, the real question is will Narcos: Mexico have season 4?
The co-creator of the series Carlo Bernard has said that the latest season is the last one to be made. And he has pretty good reasoning behind it as well. But, before that let us see what Narcos: Mexico was all about.

Initial seasons and what they covered
Narcos: Mexico started out as a spin-off to Narcos that primarily surrounded Pablo Escobar and the world he worked in. The spinoff series delves into the origins of the contemporary drug war, starting with a loose and chaotic confederation of small-time independent cannabis farmers and dealers in Mexico.
The first season of Narcos: Mexico depicts the birth of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s when Félix Gallardo brings together drug traffickers to form an empire. Enrique Camarena Salazar, a DEA agent, relocates his wife and kid from California to Guadalajara to embark on a new assignment, and he rapidly discovers that his mission would be more difficult than he could have expected.
The ending of Narcos: Mexico’s second season was, in one word- impactful. Félix Gallardo must deal with the United States and the implications of his actions against the DEA while also dealing with internal dissent. While he continues to grow increasingly assured of his untouchability, Felix ends up in jail by the ending of the second season.

With Gallardo’s arrest, the cartels of Mexico were left with a huge power vacuum. Of course, this led to the rise of many new aspirants for the position of the kingpin. Hence, season three explored the breaking down of Gallardo’s empire and laid focus on the Sinaloa, Tijuana, and Juarez cartels. Journalists search for the truth as a new generation of cartel leaders compete for control, while government agents tread a fine line between justice and corruption.
While the three seasons of the Netflix Original series were based in one place, the plots and timelines they show are unique to each.
Answering the most rattling question- will Narcos: Mexico have season 4?
Of course, any ending to this Netflix series will either have someone stay in absolute power for a brief period or someone in power being overthrown dramatically. This is essentially what Narcos: Mexico is about. Deigo Luna, the actor who plays Felix Gallardo said:
“It’s a system that creates these characters and gets rid of them when they’re not needed anymore (…) It’s a system where corruption is present everywhere, and it’s a system that involves government, police, military, banks on both sides of the border.”
So, while Narcos as a series could be continued for a long time creators have decided to keep it short. Co-creator Carlo Bernard said in a recent interview that

“I saw this season as an origin story of the modern world that we live in. For me, it felt like bringing the show up to that spot where we now recognise, for better or for worse, made sense as a place to stop it. The show has been able to lift the curtains and show you how this thing began, how it evolved.
In another interview, Bernard insinuated that while there is nothing in the works as of now, there is always a possibility of “other iterations“.
