There is an evident crack in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship with the royal family. The ties between the members have only worsened after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. While Her Majesty had a soft corner for her California-based grandson, the newly appointed monarch King Charles III has not shown any leniency toward his younger son.

The rift was quite evident during the state funeral as Harry and Meghan were pushed to the corner of the second row. They maintained a very low profile throughout their stay in the United Kingdom. Moreover, His Majesty sent a clear message regarding the future of monarchy by sharing his first royal portrait without the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The controversial statements by the Sussexes now and then have resulted in them being sidelined. Royal expert Katie Nicholl reflects on how the strained relationships can affect Harry and Meghan’s children, Archie and Lilibet.

The former actress also admitted to thinking about suicide when she was pregnant.

Harry and Meghan are expected to make more controversial claims in the former’s memoir. It is believed that this is the same reason why Archie and Lilibet are yet to gain royal titles. With Charles as King, the Sussex children are eligible for the title of Prince and Princess. Subsequently, they can also be referred to as His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness. However, His Majesty is yet to decide on his California-based grandchildren.
