Only one word can sum up How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM) star Neil Patrick Harris, and his Barney Stinson says it the best: “Legen-wait-for-it-dary.” The show can be considered a landmark of Harris’s career and is still loved worldwide. The audience of the show has helped the show become a classic and equally loved the show’s characters. However, they have a special place for their beloved Barney Stinson. Similarly, Patrick also loved his audience back and recently complimented how the show treated its audience.

Nowadays, with so much content available, producers feel pressure to keep their viewers interested from episode to episode. They do this by setting up intriguing hints about upcoming plot developments. How I Met Your Mother was famous for doing that, and Harris believes it is this faith that creators had in their audience why the show is still widely loved.

How I Met Your Mother had a winning formula that includes interesting protagonists and smart, creative storytelling. As Neil Patrick Harris remarks, the show had faith in its viewers. He thinks that the audience should be respected as much as possible and How I Met Your Mother aced that. “Carter and Craig, our creators, valued the storytelling conceit of flashing forward, I think appreciating inside jokes, trusting that an audience that’s watching season five will still pick up a bit that was a callback from season two,” commented the actor.

Harris also said that the show highlights the significance of listening to its viewers. It earned their trust throughout a series run.

How I Met Your Mother remains to be a fan-favortie

How I Met Your Mother was created by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. It debuted on CBS in 2005 and ran for nine seasons until finally being wrapped in 2014. Throughout the series, Josh Radnor played the role of Ted Mosby, a hopeless romantic who spent hours telling his kids the narrative of how he first met their mother. The rest of the main cast includes Radnor, Jason Segal as Marshall, Alyson Hannigan as Lily, Cobie Smulders as Robin, and Neil Patrick Harris as Barney. But did Harris do well in the show? Even though some viewers found the series’ ninth and final season to be a disappointment, the show consistently drew large audiences throughout its duration. The fact that the most successful episodes of the new spinoff show How I Met Your Father included appearances from the beloved original cast members is a tribute to the enduring popularity of the original show.

The show also trusted its audience with all the huge revelations it made in the show. There were times when the lead Ted Mosby, almost encountered the mother. For example, he talked about “the yellow umbrella” of the mother and the story behind how he got it. With such staggering yet joyful storytelling, it kept the audience hooked.
