Meghan Markle does not share a good relationship with her father, Thomas Markle. While the two have been at loggerheads for many years, the feud between them intensified during Markle’s magnificent wedding to Prince Harry. The retired director of photography refused to attend his daughter’s wedding at the last moment because of his health issues. 

In the absence of her biological father, the former actress walked down the aisle with Harry’s father, King Charles III. You might be surprised to know that Thomas has never met the royal prince in person. He is yet to see his daughter since her wedding in 2018 and her two children, namely Archie and Lilibet. Following a fallout with Meghan Markle, Thomas has made headlines because of his controversial statements and actions. The court in the UK also ordered a restraining order on the retired professional last month. 

Jeff Rayner has handed a restraining order to Thomas Markle

On September 13, 2022, the court handed a restraining order to Thomas Markle on the plea of the owner of Coleman-Rayner, Jeff Rayner. Thomas is not allowed anywhere near Jeff for two years. Notably, Meghan’s father was not present in the court during the judgment, as he missed the date of the hearing. Jeff believes that his life is in danger as the retired lighting director issued him death threats in the book titled Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between The Windsors. 

In the book by Tow Bower, Thomas said as quoted by ET, “I got screwed by Rayner and I’m going to find a way to screw him over before I die. I want to tear him down. If they tell me I’ve got terminal cancer, then I’ll kill him because I have nothing to lose.”

What is the reason behind the fallout between Meghan Markle and her father? 

You might remember that Coleman-Rayner is the same company that collaborated with Thomas before Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding. The 78-year-old staged pictures with the paparazzi while doing preparations for the wedding. 

The entire episode did not go well with Meghan Markle. It is the major reason behind her strained relationship with her father. Following the wedding, Thomas also filed a suit against Coleman-Rayner for violating the terms of the contract and harming his relationship with his daughter.
