“Neutrality. It won’t get you a statue,” says Geralt at the beginning of the much-awaited The Witcher season 3 trailer. Finally, Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, and Freya Allan are back to fight another fight with the monsters. With a lot of action and Jaskier’s humor, the trailer for the upcoming season of the Netflix Original begins with Ciri looking at the giant statue. While Netflix has finally released the trailer for the show that was long due, fans now wonder what the statue is about.

The trailer for the upcoming season sees a giant statue at the very beginning, along with the ruins of it throughout the trailer which has captured the fan’s attention. A Witcher fan page on Instagram named WitcherFlix has revealed some insight about the same. The statue is of Aelirenn, also known as Elirena or the White Rose of Shaerrawedd. She led the last, desperate battle against the encroaching humans roughly in the 1060s. However, she died during the battle. Because of her actions, elves and even dwarfs almost worshipped her for centuries to come.

Despite the passing of over two hundred years, an image of her still exists, carved into the stone of Shaerrawedd. Viewers will see the significance of the statue as the series lands on Netflix. However, when Ciri was standing against the statue, we hear Geralt saying neutrality would not get you a statue. Finally, Geralt will leave his neutrality behind and fight for the cause, forcing him to choose a side. Maybe, just like Aelirenn, Geralt will take the stand against all odds. 

“But it’ll certainly help in keeping you alive,” says Geralt. During their TUDUM interview, the British actor talked about how his Geralt stayed neutral throughout the previous seasons, which will certainly change in this season. But while saving Ciri is something Geralt is bound to do, what does the new season have in store for him and Yennefer?

Will Henry Cavill and Anya Chalorta’s on-screen romance take place in The Witcher season 3?

Previously, there were revelations about the next season being closer to the original books. In the books, Geralt and Yennefer’s story takes a romantic turn. However, in the trailer, there are brief glimpses of their sizzling chemistry, like in the Thanedd ball, which is crucial to the plot of ‘Time of Contempt.’

Although the majority of the trailer sees action and Yennefer helping Ciri. Nevertheless, there are certainly going to be some romantic actions between Yennefer and Geralt.

So, to witness the love story of Geralt and Yennefer along with the strengthening love between Ciri and Geralt, fans will have to wait till the 29th of June. Until then, tell us how excited are you about season 3.
