The Witcher Saga has always remained jam-packed with iconic characters. The Netflix adaptation also tried its best to do justice to these supernatural and powerful people living on the Continent. Over the course of three seasons, the show has introduced many characters to the audience. Some became an inevitable part of the journey of Ciri and Geralt, while others only crossed the story for fleeting moments. But one of those characters that left an impressive impact on the minds of fans was Nenneke.

Despite her brief appearance in the series, this sorcerer has played a pretty significant role in all forms of “Witcher” media in the past decades.

Nenneke appeared in season 2 of The Witcher, as a priestess and the indisputable head of the Temple of Melitele in Ellander. Fans met her in episode 6 ‘Dear Friend’ when Geralt takes Ciri there for magic lessons. At the very first moment, this mage made a powerful impression through her stern demeanor. Or one can say that her stoic and matriarchal characteristics made her an important figure in this world.

The show depicted her as a woman of many talents, from being a teacher of magic and alchemy to making legendary potions, elixirs, salves, and ointments. Meanwhile, many fans might have found the face of the character familiar after watching her in the fantasy drama.

Adjoa Andoh in The Witcher

The British actress Adjoa Andoh played the role of Nenneke in The Witcher. Bridgerton loyalists already know her as the formidable Lady Danbury. The 60-year-old bridged two of Netflix’s biggest blockbusters with her remarkable appearance on the series. It was lovely the way Andoh seamlessly went from advising Simon, the Duke of Hastings, to verbally contending with the White Wolf. To put it simply, the sound of her confident footsteps in the show established the image of the character.

Nenneke: Books vs Show

According to the books, Nenneke is the one character who has played an important role in Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri’s life. Her famous potion art helped the mutant heal when a striga wounded him. Also, the wise head priestess guided Ciri and Yen to control their powers. Unfortunately, she has remained mostly absent from the series except for their brief encounter in the second season.

But that sequence gave fans a glimpse of the knowledge she possesses about this supernatural world and the childhood of a monster slayer. So the question now arises is what part she would have in the coming seasons because the creators have promised to follow the source material closely.

Can she play a part in future seasons without Henry Cavill?

Henry Cavill has finally said goodbye to his iconic role in the Netflix show. So any addition would be good for the creators to intrigue the interest of fans who have decided not to watch the series without him. Nenneke can certainly be the character to develop the budding relationship between Yennefer and Ciri. Considering the books have depicted her as the key to building a dynamic between these two. Without her, both these characters could have never come closer as per the source material. Not to mention, she might cure Geralt too, whose bones were crushed in season 3.
