Who is Deglan, the Witcher?

Nightmare of The Wolf unveiled the mysterious figure of Deglan, a witcher who mentors Geralt’s guide, Vesemir. This animated tale delved into the backstory, revealing the tumultuous events culminating in the near extinction of witchers. However, this depiction of Deglan deviated from established lore. Through Deglan’s character arc, viewers gained insights into his crucial role in Vesemir’s life, witnessed the iconic armor he wore during the fateful siege on Kaer Morhen, and later encountered references to these events in The Witcher season 2.

In the game, Deglan, once seen as a respected figure, unraveled as a cunning criminal who engineered artificial monsters to ramp up witcher contracts, a shady move to aid their kind. Despite his murky deeds, his connection with Vesemir painted him in shades of grey rather than outright villainy. When chaos descended upon Kaer Morhen, he valiantly shielded fellow witchers, using his last ounce of strength to vanquish the catalyst of the chaos, Petra, in a final act of redemption before his fall.

Deglan wandered through the paths of  Nightmare of the Wolf and journeyed alongside The Witcher season 2. Now, would Deglan make a return appearance in the upcoming Sirens of the Deep anime?

A contemplation for return in Sirens of the Deep?

Following the triumph of The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, Netflix plunged into crafting another animated saga within the Witcher universe titled The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. This upcoming film, nestles between episodes 5 and 6 of The Witcher Season 1, took inspiration from Andrzej Sapkowski’s overlooked short story, A Little Sacrifice.

Amidst the buzz surrounding this new animated venture, chances for Deglan’s appearance in Sirens of the Deep appeared slim with Deglan’s nod in Season 2 of the series and the storyline of Sirens of the Deep rooted in Season 1.
