Which Special Family Member Joins Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for Thanksgiving Every Year?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made it to the headlines a few days back for reportedly snubbing the Christmas invite by King Charles III. The new monarch is keen on keeping the Christmas tradition of his late mother alive. Thus, he has invited all the family members to join him in Sandringham for the festivities. However, it is believed that the Sussexes have decided to not join the family gathering.
Though Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have no plans of spending Christmas with their extended family, they do celebrate thanksgiving with a family member. Every year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrate the occasion with their two children Archie and Lilibet, and one special person who shares a good bond with both prince and former American actress. And no, the Sussexes are not joined by any of Prince Harry’s family members for thanksgiving.

Meghan Markle’s mother Doria Ragland has been a permanent guest in all the thanksgiving celebrations of the Duke and Duchess. They first celebrated thanksgiving with the Duchess’ mother in 2019 when they were still a part of the royal family as working members. The couple, along with their firstborn Archie, had a small yet sweet thanksgiving celebration in Canada.

In 2020, they celebrated the festival in their new home in Montecito while the next year saw them celebrating as a family of four, with Lilibet joining them. Both times, Doria was also present as they enjoyed a traditional home-cooked thanksgiving meal. The Duke and Duchess celebrated the holidays in the same manner this year as well.
The presence of Doria Ragland for the festivities in Sussex’s home should not be a surprise. Doria has been a hands-on grandparent for Archie and Lilibet as she was there with Markle during both of her pregnancies. The two children also enjoyed the company of their grandmother in September for over two weeks, when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had traveled to the United Kingdom.
