Netflix leaves no stone unturned when it comes to shooting their shows. Whether it is getting award-winning VFX artists or shutting down entire streets, Netflix always goes full in. So, for both seasons of its Emmy Winning series, Russian Doll, the streamer had the best live filming locations arranged.

Let us take a look at where the hit dark comedy by Netflix was filmed.

Russian Doll filming locations

Season 1

All of the filming sites are in the East Village and are constrained to a narrow radius due to the show’s concept. Nadia travels to 7B Horseshoe Bar several times during the series to seek the dealer of the joints she believes are causing her time loop.

She also dies in front of the pub several times, including the first time when a car kills her just in front of the iconic red door. Odessa Restaurant, Sunny & Annie’s, and Tompkins Square Park are among the other locales featured in the series.

Season 2

According to sources, Season 2 of Russian Doll has filming locations all across New York City. After boarding the sixth train at 77th Street in one episode, Nadia finds herself stuck in her mother’s body in 1982. She is a “time prisoner,” not a time traveler.

She starts looking for her smartphone in her coat pockets. But she only finds a matchbook for a pub named the Black Gumball.  A message inside the matchbook says, “See you at 8. Chez.” According to Thrillist, Nadia makes her way to the pub, which is Horseshoe Bar — or 7B Horseshoe Bar aka Vazacs — “a staple of the East Village.”

Enhanced replicas of Jane’s Exchange and Ben’s Deli served as backgrounds for Season 2. According to Untapped New York, the Russian Doll Season 2 filming sites included Brooklyn’s Church Avenue station, St. Nicholas Carpatho Church, the General Society for Mechanics and Tradesmen, and Tompkins Square Park.
