The Witcher Season 2 was released just a few days back and we have already binged watched the entire season in one go. Fans have already started the countdown for Season 3 of The Witcher.

How many seasons of The Witcher are there?

There are a total of two seasons of The Witcher, which are officially on Netflix. While the first season was released back in December 2019, the second season was released after two years on December 17th, 2021.

Will there be a season 3 of The Witcher?

Season 3 was announced on September 25th, 2021. The tweet also revealed that the franchise of The Witcher will get a second anime film and a new family-friendly series aimed at kids.

While talking to the Digital Spy, the creator of the show Lauren S. Hissrich, gave a hint about the new season. She claimed, “TThe writers’ room this season is incredible. I mean, we’ve always had incredible writers on the show. But I feel that this season specifically had… We had some new people come in, and it was really interesting how it changed the dynamic of the room, to have this sort of new blood: people who have watched the first season, who then had screened the second season, and came in with fresh, new ideas, who sort of challenged me on things that I hadn’t really thought about before.”

She also added, “What is interesting, though, is that we finished the scripts, and only then do we start talking to the actors and the directors and getting into the production constraints of actually turning these eight episodes into a full-length journey. It’s important to me that the actors, for instance, that they feel passionate about their journeys as well; that they understand their characters’ journeys. So those are conversations that will all start soon.”

When is The Witcher season 3 filming?

There are still no updates about the filming of Season 3 of the show. Now that Season 2 is running in a full-fledged way, we can hope that the production of the sequel season will begin shortly.

As Season 3’s production has yet to begin, fans should not expect the next season to come out anytime soon. Perhaps December 2022 or sometime in 2023 can be realistic expectations for The Witcher Season 3 to hit Netflix.
