The realm where the mundane and the eerie intermingle, Netflix’s Stranger Things’ every part, is as thrilling as it is scary. From flickering lights and crackling radios to the monsters from the Upside Down, the series has served up many hair-raising sequences so far. Each corner of the fictional Hawkins offers a spine-chilling encounter. After fans had finally made peace with the gory presence of the Demogorgon by the end of season 3, another creepy entity reared his head. And just when fans thought Hawkins could not get weirder, in came Vecna.

Vecna had many terrifying traits, the most notable of which was his blood-curling voice. But there was a time when the actor who plays Vecna, Jamie Campbell Bower, used that voice for an unexpected purpose.

Vecna is “just a girl”?

When Bower appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last year, one particular request from the host took him aback. Fallon asked Bower to use his Vecna voice for some lines he wanted the actor to read. Hilarity ensued as he kicked off by narrating an iconic dialogue from a classic Julia Roberts rom-com. Hearing Vecna say “I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her”, audiences and Bower could not hold back their laughter.

Bower is known for being a cheeky man, especially since the jab he took at Elon Musk recently. Besides the heart-touching Notting Hill dialogue, the English actor also narrated a cereal commercial. But the most perplexing of all was when he engaged his Vecna voice to ask Jack to “paint him” like one of his “French girls,” which was referring to the legendary dialogue from Titanic, of course.

As hard as it was to imagine, the 34-year-old delivered his lines with perfection, much like he did in Stranger Things. But one thing that he revealed he never imagined may shock fans.

Bower never thought he would do a show like Stranger Things

With its unusual mix of nostalgia and terror, Stranger Things became an instant Netflix binge for fans across the world. But in the interview with Fallon, Bower revealed he never imagined “being on a show” like the Emmy-winning Stranger Things. Aptly calling Vecna “this thing” he also said he never expected the “bizarre” experiences that the part brought along with it.

Now the show is set to bring on an even more evil side of the petrifying monster in its next season. Undeniably, Vecna will forever remain etched in fans’ hearts and their nightmares. Especially that signature Jamie Campbell Bower voice.
