When two kindred souls meet each other, things just click. Something similar happened to Iman Vellani and Maitreiyi Ramakrishnan when they met at the Toronto International Film Festival. Iman Vellani is a Canadian actress, who got her first break in Hollywood with the Ms. Marvel miniseries on Disney. Likewise, Maitreiyi Ramakrishnan got her big break by becoming the face of the renowned comedy-drama Never Have I Ever, which focuses on an Indian-American high school student.

And meeting someone from your culture and background in a country where you know very few people feels amazing. Somehow the Asian touch to their souls became a thread of connection between Maitreiyi and Vellani as she once told Bustle Booth. Apparently, their friendship blossomed over shawarma. Maitreiyi Ramakrishnan and Iman Vellani bumped into each other in Toronto

In one of her interviews with Bustle, Vellani revealed how amazing her journey was, from being a normal high schooler in Ontario to becoming a star. After becoming the MCU’s first Pakistani American character (Kamala Khan), she received viewers’ attention.

This was the point when she met lovely Maitreiyi when they both were invited to the Toronto Festival. The young actress found a new ally in Never Have I Ever star as both the girls became famous with their debuts in the blink of an eye. So they exchanged numbers and went together to eat some shawarma, Vellani told Bustle, which was the beginning of their beautiful friendship. 

Apparently, they “talked for like five hours straight without breathing, just throwing stories at each other,” stated Vellani about their endless chit-chat in the function. 

Having someone who truly understands you is satisfying when you feel alone in a new world. And this is what Iman Vellani felt after meeting Maitreiyi. She added both of them had similar experiences when they entered television. And it is very comforting for her to know that there is someone like her. Because in this enormous industry, it becomes easier to discover your unique identity if you have encouraging people around. 

Meanwhile, Iman’s role in Ms. Marvel has brought her so much experience of being a Pakistani from roots while embracing it for good reasons.
