Garner auditioned for the role of<a href="https://netflixjunkie.com/netflix-news-i-am-not-hollywood-standard-beautiful-julia-garner-reveals-why-she-only-gets-unconventional-roles-like-ruth-langmore-in-ozark/"> Ruth Langmore</a> in the summers of 2016. Even though her character wasn&#8217;t in the pilot, Julia confessed she wanted the part by hook or by crook. The journey then proceeded undaunted. Although there were hundreds of budding stars and actresses, Julia, piqued with her interest, bagged the role.

She recalled the time of the day of the audition, saying that the first audition was in a small room in New York. Julia continued by saying that the casting only asked her to do one scene and then thanked her.

Soon after the audition was over, Julia got a callback, and the rest was history. Ruth was hers the very next day. Julia is a firm believer that whatever happens, happens because of a reason. But with Ruth, it was different. Letting go of Ruth wouldn&#8217;t have been easy on her part. She said, &#8220;I remember thinking, if I didn&#8217;t get this, I would be upset.&#8221;
<h2>How Ruth Langmore skyrocketed Julia&#8217;s career</h2>
Garner&#8217;s portrayal of hard-headed and sassy Ruth Langmore was the highlight of <a href="https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/ozark/">Ozark.</a> There were times we loved her and hoped for her success, while the other times<a href="https://netflixjunkie.com/netflix-news-ruth-langmore-julia-garner-vs-wendy-byrde-laura-linney-whom-do-we-hate-more-in-ozark-and-why/"> she got on our last nerves</a>. Regardless, her character as a whole was mesmerizing. Exceptional talent is versatile in ways that many high potentials are not. Julia&#8217;s versatility said it all when she beat three massively talented actresses for the role of a charismatic and strong character on the biggest TV series of our era.
