Its gothic allure and eerie brilliance made viewers ponder whether true darkness lurks in the unknown or hides in plain sight. After its debut season clawed its way to the top, becoming the most-watched English-language show on the platform, trailing only Squid Game season 1 in global dominance, fans have been relentless in their quest for the sequel. 

So for those anxiously awaiting Jenna Ortega’s return to Nevermore, here is a deep dive into Wednesday’s much-anticipated encore.

Stranger ThingsBridgerton, and a few others may boast larger lifetime numbers across multiple seasons but neither can claim a single installment as hypnotically viral as Wednesday. As a result, the buzz, the hubbub, and the anticipation surrounding its sequel seem all the more viable. According to Tudum by Netflix, Wednesday season 2 will hit the streamer in 2025, no doubt. But as for now, there is no word on a particular date. 

The show was renewed for a second installment in January 2023 and about a month ago, the streaming giant released a refreshingly chilling snippet from the forthcoming as part of the Next on Netflix event. Alongside Ortega, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, and Victor Dorobantu will retreat to the Netflix original. Additionally, Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo will make their comebacks as well.

New additions include Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor followed by expected guest appearances from Lady Gaga, Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’ Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo and Joonas Suotamo. With production already complete in Ireland, it should not be long before Wednesday creeps onto the streamer for its second haunting. But weather it is lurking for some ghastly omen remains to be seen.
