What we saw on the screen in the live-action series was just the final product. However, there were a lot of things that also went on behind and during the production that made the show the huge success it was. One such element was how the live-action embraced campiness. There is a history of live-action shows taking a more serious approach while portraying the story. However, they failed to bring to life the very elements that made the series successful in the first place. However, the Eiichiro Oda series on Netflix portrayed the source material in its raw form. One Piece bravely embraced the colorful campiness and captured all the elements that made the original series fun.

Another major reason behind the show’s skyrocketing success was the creator’s massive involvement in its production. Eiichiro Oda was thoroughly involved in every step of the process. Oda made sure the series lived up to his requirements and did not feature anything that would hold it back. Moreover, he gave crucial inputs during the filming as well. Even though his rigid nature caused some difficulties for the showrunners, it eventually paid off as One Piece became a global sensation.
