After parting ways with the royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are trying to set foot in the entertainment industry. The royal couple is inclined towards the profession of a producer to earn a living. It was in September 2020 that Harry and Meghan stunned the world by signing a multimillion-dollar deal with Netflix to produce content like docuseries, documentaries, fiction shows, and kids’ series. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in the news for quite some time due to their infamous docuseries.

The show that is supposed to be released later this year is likely to shed light on their life as senior working royals. The upcoming show has been making a lot of noise as it can shade the important member of the royal family, including the monarch King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton. However, it might surprise you that the docuseries was not the first thing that Meghan Markle planned for the American streaming giant. The former actress was all set to produce an animated series called Pearl under her production house, Archewell Productions.

Netflix shelved the animated series by Meghan Markle earlier this year

In May 2022, it was announced that Netflix has decided to drop Meghan Markle’s Pearl. The show was co-produced by David Furnish and they made its official announcement in fanfare last year. However, the American streaming platform shelved the animated series as a part of cost-cutting. Netflix’s quarterly report suggested a significant drop in subscribers.

Panicked with the whole situation, the streamer decided to cut down on the expenses by saying no to some shows. Apart from Pearl, Dino Daycare and Boons and Curses are the other two animated series that were dropped.

Notably, Pearl was all set to showcase the story of a 12-year-old girl. She navigates through her life by taking inspiration from some of the most influential women in the history of mankind. Meghan Markle described the project as a series that “celebrates extraordinary women throughout history.”
